Psoriasis Awareness Month - August 2017

Tuesday, August 1, 2017

About Psoriasis Awareness Month

Psoriasis is an immune-mediated disease that causes raised, red, scaly patches to appear on the skin. It typically affects the outside of the elbows, knees or scalp, though it can appear on any location. Some people report that psoriasis is itchy, burns and stings. Psoriasis is associated with other serious health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and depression.

How Your Store Can Promote Psoriasis Awareness Month

  • Partner with a local dermatological clinic. Recommend customers to get any raised, red or scaly patches on their skin examined. Ask clinics to recommend your store to fill a prescription if they are diagnosed with psoriasis or give customers coupons for OTC treatments at your store.
  • Offer a promotion on OTC treatments and remedies:
    • Topical treatments
    • Moisturizers
    • Cold packs
  • Inform customers about psoriasis by including a pamphlet with each purchase that gives facts about psoriasis, where they can have their skin examined and available OTC treatments.
